An access log is a text file containing a complete report on all the files accessed by your site visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script app and a website visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you may find plenty of files inside the log. This is because there are resources on the home page which are embedded - parts of other pages, pics, etc. All these files shall be listed in the access log, allowing you to get a full picture of the way your site performs. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are often called "raw data" as well. An access log contains the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, browser and OS. More info, such as the referrer Internet site, is usually included too. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats generated by your server.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

If you obtain a cloud hosting from our company, you shall be able to decide if access logs must be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. You may activate this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, integrated with all shared accounts. Each and every domain you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to every one of them, so you can quickly trigger or disable the generation of access logs separately for every website that you have. You'll be able to save a log to your personal computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see inside the very same section of the CP. The link will be available even if you stop the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data compiled by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you shall have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than a couple of mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You will find this function within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is a click on the On button that you'll see there. The feature can be triggered separately for any site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find the complete list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you may then look at it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation could be deactivated by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your CP.
